Mr. McKenzie, who co‐founded Pointer Management, LLC in 1990, is a Senior Advisor to the firm. He began his investment career in 1971, researching individual securities and managing individual portfolios for the next 11 years. Since then he has been an investor in numerous hedge funds, as well as several other diverse vehicles.
Upon graduation from the University of North Carolina (BA ’69) and the Wharton School of Business (MBA ’71), Mr. McKenzie joined Kidder, Peabody & Company in New York and became assistant to Julian H. Robertson. In 1980, they co‐founded the well known hedge fund, TIGER. In late 1982, Mr. McKenzie retired from TIGER as a general partner, while remaining as a limited partner until the winding down of TIGER in the year 2000. Until the early 1990’s, Mr. McKenzie explored a wide range of investments including emerging markets, leveraged buy‐outs, commodities and currencies.
